At Cape Lookout Family Dental, our goal is to educate all of our patients about the importance of proper dental care and to provide the best dental care on the Crystal Coast in a comfortable environment while using the latest technology. Today, we're going to answer a couple of frequently asked questions we get about dental care.
At least once a day. Flossing reaches the parts of the teeth that are not reached by only brushing. Flossing removes bacteria that can cause plaque buildup.
A cavity is a small hole in the tooth that has developed as a result of tooth decay. Cavities will continue to grow over time, so it is important to have them repaired as soon as possible.
If you have generally good dental health, it is recommended to see your dentist twice a year. If you have gum disease or other dental health issues, you will need to have more regular appointments with you dentist in order to effectively follow the treatment plan.
We don't particularly recommend any one brand, however it is important to look for fluoride in your tooth past. Fluoride can help protect your teeth, make your enamel stronger and prevent tooth decay.
Inflamed gums is also a condition known as gingivitis. Gingivitis can cause you gums to bleed due to the buildup of plaque along your gum line. You gums can also bleed due to medication, changes in oral health care, diet and several other reasons. If you're experiencing bleeding gums, we suggest visiting your dentist as soon as possible.
If you haven't seen a dentist in quite some time, we highly recommend that you give us a call to schedule an appointment with Dr. Vurnakes in Morehead City.
